Evaluation of automated contour detection to produce regional delay maps from high temporal resolution cine images in patients undergoing CRT

چکیده
Background Recently, high temporal resolution short-axis cine images have been used to create left ventricular (LV) regional mechanical delay (RMD) maps in patients undergoing cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT). Generating the endocardial segmentation required for RMD analysis is both time-consuming and subjective. A semi-automated segmentation method for time-continuous contour detection that uses multi-dimensional dynamic programming to enforce user-defined shape constraints without the need for extensive training sets has been previously developed (Üzümcü 2006). Our goal was to compare RMD maps generated from semiautomated and manual segmentation in patients enrolled for CRT.

Automated classification of pulmonary nodules through a retrospective analysis of conventional CT and two-phase PET images in patients undergoing biopsy
Objective(s): Positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) examination is commonly used for the evaluation of pulmonary nodules since it provides both anatomical and functional information. However, given the dependence of this evaluation on physician’s subjective judgment, the results could be variable. The purpose of this study was to develop an automated scheme for the classific...
متن کاملA New Algorithm for Skin Lesion Border Detection in Dermoscopy Images
Background: With advances in medical imaging systems, digital dermoscopy has become one of the major imaging modalities in the analysis of skin lesions. Thus, automated segmentation or border detection has a great impact on the subsequent steps of skin cancer computer-aided diagnosis using demoscopy images. Since dermoscopy images suffer from artifacts such as shading and hair, there is a need ...
متن کاملA method to determine regional mechanical left ventricular dyssynchrony based on high temporal resolution short axis SSFP cine images
Background Left ventricular (LV) mechanical dyssynchrony has been proposed as a parameter to select patients for cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) [Bax et al JACC 2005]. Several recent studies have shown that placing the LV pacing lead in the most delayed regions yields a better response to CRT [Ansalone et al JACC 2002]. However, most imaging-based methods assess global LV dyssynchrony p...
متن کاملIdentification of the size and location of dyssynchronous regions in patients undergoing CRT
Background It has been shown that both the degree of LV mechanical dyssynchrony and the location of the latest contracting segment of the LV affect an individual’s ability to respond positively to CRT [Bax et al JACC 2005]. From high temporal resolution short-axis SSFP images, maps of regional mechanical contraction times throughout the LV can be generated. These maps show regional dyssynchrony...
متن کاملA New Computer-Aided Detection System for Pulmonary Nodule in CT Scan Images of Cancerous Patients
Introduction: In the lung cancers, a computer-aided detection system that is capable of detecting very small glands in high volume of CT images is very useful. This study provided a novelsystem for detection of pulmonary nodules in CT image. Methods: In a case-control study, CT scans of the chest of 20 patients referred to Yazd Social Security Hospital were examined. In the two-dimensional and ...
